The internet is blowing up with the story (originally found on Huffington Post) about how moms aren’t found in their children’s pictures, for whatever reason (self-esteem, they’re the ones taking the picture, etc.), so there’s this campaign to get mamas into pictures.
I saw the original article and thought it was interesting, but passed it by, since I find myself often mugging for a shot with Potamus. But then when I saw the article featured on Offbeat Mama, I knew I had to comment:
“Maybe I am just a narcissistic cow, but I freaking LOVE being in pictures with my baby. And I shamelessly ask people to take photos of us, even when it annoys them (because I also shamelessly ask them to re-take it if its blurry).”
AND write a little post, showing the evidence from many of our self-portrait shots.
I wonder…where are YOU in the pictures? Do you tend to be in more shots than your child’s other parent? In our family, Boof is less predominate, preferring to mostly stay behind the scenes. If you aren’t in pictures, why not?
SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!! You both are so friggin’ beautiful!!!
Awe, thanks! *blushes*
Adorable!
I’m a hipster- I had this rule before it became a mindful campaign! I had this rule before I became a mom. It was especially important to always be in the profile pictures, above all else. The profile is to show who is behind the page, not your dog nor your kid (as adorable as they may be)!
If I have makeup on and not wearing my favorite polka dot purple pajamas, I love taking pics! Of myself and my kid 😉
YES to being in profile pictures! I know, I was actually shocked that it was becoming such a ‘thin’ because it seemed so common sense..but this is from a girl with 8,500 pictures (for real) on facebook, and over 2,000 tagged of me. But my philosophy is that pictures are memories and I want to see myself in those memories!
I’m in more pictures now that phones have front cameras! I love taking pics with my son. My mom was never in pictures or videos either because she was always holding the camera or camcorder. If she had let my dad take video, she would be in the shot but we would’ve all needed anti-nausea medicine to watch!
I used to have a camera that flipped around and I became queen of self-potraits, but alas, my upgrade isn’t as easy (so I have plenty of funny arm side head shots that just don’t work out!). I’m looking forward to upgrading my phone to have a front camera in the spring!
